Uttarakhand's First Yoga PolicyLaunched by CM on 11th International Yoga Day at Bhararisain (summer capital). Aims to make Uttarakhand the global capital of yoga and wellness.
Financial ProvisionsSubsidies up to ₹20 lakh for yoga/meditation centres. ₹10 lakh grants for yoga/naturopathy research.
Implementation TargetsBy March 2026: Yoga services at all AYUSH Health and Wellness Centres. By 2030: Five new yoga hubs.
Spiritual Economic ZonesTo be developed in Garhwal & Kumaon as international hubs for Ayurveda, yoga, and spiritual tourism. Aims to curb migration by creating local employment.
International Yoga DayCelebrated on 21st June (Summer Solstice). Proposed by India at 69th UNGA (2014). First observed in 2015 (Theme: Yoga for Harmony and Peace). 2025 Theme: Yoga for One Earth, One Health.
Global RecognitionUNESCO listed Yoga as Intangible Cultural Heritage (2016). WHO includes Yoga in Global Action Plan (2018-30).
Yoga as a SportClassified as a 'Priority' sports discipline by India's Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (2015).
