‘Technical textiles will cross $10 bn in export’
- The Government has launched the National Technical Textiles Mission and PLI Scheme for MMF, Apparel and Technical Textiles and has sanctioned 156 research projects under the Mission.

Global and Domestic Market Overview:
- Rachna Shah, Union Textiles Secretary, provided an overview of the global and domestic markets. She noted that the global trade in technical textiles is valued at approximately $300 billion, while India’s domestic market is worth $25 billion, with annual exports reaching $2.6 billion.
New Standards and Harmonized Codes for Technical Textiles:
- Rajeev Saxena, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Textiles, added that the government had released Quality Control Orders (QCO) for 57 technical textiles items, including fire retardant furniture fabrics.
- Additionally, 37 new Harmonized System (HS) Codes have been introduced for better classification and regulation of technical textile products.
