SMS sending functionality to be launched to inform MLA/MPs under SVAMITVA Scheme
- A new functionality developed wherein SMS will be rolled out to MPs and MLAs informing about the commencement of drone flying in their respective Constituency scheduled for survey under the SVAMITVA scheme to be launched
- It will help in wider outreach and transparency of the scheme.
SVAMITVA(Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) Scheme
- It is an initiative of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
- It aims to provide rural people with the right to document their residential properties so that they can use their property for economic purposes and taking loans
- The scheme is for surveying the land parcels in rural inhabited areas using Drone technology.
- The survey shall be done across the country in a phase wise manner over the period 2020 -2025 .
- It is a Central Sector scheme
- With the use of Modern Technology this scheme is being carried out to further benefit millions of rural property owners.
Objectives of Scheme
- To bring financial stability to the citizens in rural India by enabling them to use their property as a financial asset for taking loans and other financial benefits.
- Creation of accurate land records for rural planning.
- Determination of property tax, which would accrue to the GPs directly in States where it is devolved or else, add to the State exchequer.
- Creation of survey infrastructure and GIS maps that can be leveraged by any department for their use.
- To support the preparation of a better-quality Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) by making use of GIS maps.
- To reduce property related disputes and legal cases
SVAMITVA card
- It is created for each landowner under the Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas initiative.
- This will allow them to produce a formal document to financial institutions in the event that they decide to use their land/property as an asset in the future.
Advantages of Scheme
- The initiative would aid in simplifying rural planning and revenue collection while also providing clarity on property rights.
- Using the maps developed under this initiative, the plan will enable the production of higher-quality Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDPs).

- The SVAMITVA Property card can also be used to provide landowners with a temporary identification.
