PM to release 10th instalment of PM-KISAN on 1st January
- Prime Minister of India will release the 10th instalment of financial benefit under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on 1st January 2022
- This will enable the transfer of an amount of more than Rs. 20,000 crore to more than 10 crore beneficiary farmer families.
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN):
- It is a Central Sector Scheme with 100% funding from the Government of India.
- It has become operational from 1.12.2018.
- It is being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
- Under the PM-KISAN scheme, a financial benefit of Rs. 6000/- per year is provided to the eligible beneficiary farmer families, payable in three equal 4-monthly instalments of Rs.2000/- each.
Provisions:
- The definition of the family for the scheme is husband, wife and minor children.
- State Government and UT administration will identify the farmer families which are eligible for support as per scheme guidelines.
- The fund will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
- There are various Exclusion Categories for the scheme.
Aims
- To supplement the financial needs of the Small and Marginal Farmers (SMFs) in procuring various inputs to ensure proper crop health and appropriate yields and commensurate with the anticipated farm income at the end of each crop cycle.
