MH-60 R Helicopters in India

• A team of Indian Navy personnel reached the U.S. for training on the MH-60R multi-role helicopters.
• 24 Helicopters were contracted in a $2.2-billion deal in February 2020.
• It provides India with the capability to perform anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare missions.

• It is made by defence giant Lockheed Martin,
• These helicopters are considered to be the world's most advanced maritime helicopter.
• It is the most capable and mature Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Anti-Surface Warfare (ASuW) multi-mission helicopter available in the world.
• It is equipped with anti-submarine Mark 54 torpedoes and Hellfire air-to-surface missiles, along with precision-kill rockets.
• It also has an advanced system for passive detection, location, and identification of emitters.
• It is capable to track and hunt ships.
• It also is expected to boost the Indian Navy’s efforts to expand its role in the Indian Ocean Region.
