India's Defence Ministry Procures Transportable Radar 'Ashwini' from BEL

News EventMinistry of Defence signed a ₹2,906 crore contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for procurement of Low-Level Transportable Radar 'Ashwini' for the Indian Air Force.
About Ashwini Radar- Active electronically scanned phased array radar.<br>- Used to monitor slow-moving targets like high-speed fighter aircraft, UAVs, and helicopters.<br>- Based on state-of-the-art solid-state technology.<br>- Indigenously designed and developed by LRDE and DRDO.
Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL)- Navaratna Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Defence.<br>- Established in 1954 to meet defence needs.<br>- Engaged in defence and professional electronics.<br>- Production units located in Bengaluru, Ghaziabad, Panchkula, Kotdwar, Hyderabad, Machilipatnam, Navi Mumbai, Pune, and Chennai.
Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)- Research and development arm of the Ministry of Defence.<br>- Established in 1958 by integrating TDEs, DTDP, and DSO.<br>- Developed strategic systems like Agni and Prithvi missile series, Tejas, Pinaka, Akash, and various radars and electronic warfare systems.<br>- Network of over 50 laboratories engaged in defence technology development.
