India, Gambia sign agreement to ease diplomatic travel
- Further strengthening the bilateral ties, India and the Gambia on Monday signed two important agreements-
- Exempting visas for official and diplomatic passport holders
- Setting up of Joint Commission.
Ministerial visit
- The agreement was signed by Minister of State for External Affairs (MoS MEA), V Muraleedharan who is on a two-day official visit to the West African country, along with Gambian Foreign Minister.
- During his first official visit to the Gambia, the Minister also held extensive and fruitful discussions with Gambian Foreign Minister Dr. Mamadou Tangara covering wide-ranging matters including development partnership, capacity building, trade, investment, and people to people ties.
- Earlier in July, India and the Gambia signed an MoU for strengthening and promoting bilateral cooperation between the two countries in Personnel Administration and Governance Reforms.

- India and the Gambia share warm and friendly bilateral relations, marked by cooperation in the Non-Aligned Movement and United Nations.
- The major items exported by India to The Gambia include cotton yarn, fabrics & made-ups, cosmetics/toiletries, drugs & pharmaceuticals, and semi-finished Iron & steel products whereas Gambia’s main items of export to India are raw cashew and cotton.
