Govt launches portal for National Livestock Mission

• Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying launched the portal for National Livestock Mission (NLM).
• With the portal, the Government aims to increase the effectiveness and ensure transparency in the implementation of the scheme.
• NLM portal is developed by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) in collaboration with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying.

National Livestock Mission (NLM)

• It was launched in financial year 2014-15 seeks to ensure quantitative and qualitative improvement in livestock production systems and capacity building of all stakeholders.
• The scheme is being implemented as a sub scheme of White Revolution - Rashtriya Pashudhan Vikas Yojana since April 2019.

Purpose of Portal

• The livestock sector in the country has been growing at a compound annual growth rate of 8.15% from 2014-15 to 2019-20.
• The online portal aims to enable a customized workflow between State Implementing Agency (SIA), lenders, and Ministry as required under the National Livestock Mission.
