Google Street View comes to India, with data from local partners
- Google has launched 360-degree interactive panorama feature for Indian cities as part of its Street View services aka Project Gullify.

- Launched in collaboration with Tech Mahindra and Genesys International.
- Relaunched a decade after being barred from collecting data for its Street View services.
- It will begin in 10 Indian cities (including Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, etc.).
- It will be available on Google Maps, with new imagery licensed from local partners.
- National Geospatial Policy(NGP) requires that all data be collected by local entities.
- It specifies areas where data can be collected and which cannot, such as government, defense and military areas.
Significance
- Assist users in better understanding road conditions and discovering local businesses.
- Speed limit data for Bengaluru and Chandigarh and road congestion data for 9 cities.
- Environmental insights explorer tool will help planners to understand how to reduce emissions in cities.
