Gati Shakti Master Plan
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced "Gatishakti", an ambitious infrastructure development program worth ₹100 lakh crore, which aims to boost employment opportunities and productivity of industries.
- The scheme focuses on the development of 'composite infrastructure'.
- It seeks to break down the silos between road, rail, air and waterways to bring coherence in the logistics area.
PM Gati Shakti scheme
- PM siad that right now, there is no coordination between our means of transport.
- Bringing integration among various modes of transport to reduce travel time, improving industrial productivity, making manufacturing globally competitive, facilitating future economic zones and creating employment are the major objectives which will be achieved by the scheme.
- PM also emphasised the need to increase both manufacturing and exports from India.
- More details and the launch date of the project are awaited.
Logistics sector
- India has been working for a reset of its logistics sector involving railways, highways, inland waterways and airports to put in place an effective transportation grid.
- Logistics make up about 13% of costs for Indian companies, making exports uncompetitive vis-a-vis China.

Development of Multi-Modal Logistics Parks
- Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) is a freight-handling facility and to be constructed in a minimum area of 100 acres providing access to different modes of transportation.
Parivahan Portal
- Earlier, different states have different policies regarding the processing of basic documents like Registration Certificate (RC) and Driving License (DL).
- Government wanted to standardize processes across PAN-India to make sure that correct data can easily be shared between systems irrespective of their location.
- Hence, the ministry launched two software –
- SARATHI for driving license processes
- VAHAN for vehicle registration.
E-Way Bill
- E-way bill is an electronic document, generated from the E-way site, that is required to be carried by a person carrying a load worth more than Rs. 50,000.
- The E-way bill is issued by registered suppliers transferring goods from one state to another.
