Dagmara Hydroelectric Project
- An MoU has been signed between NHPC Limited and Bihar State Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited (BSHPC) for the Implementation of 130.1 MW Dagmara HE Project, Dist. Supaul, Bihar.
- This the largest hydropower project of Bihar which is to be implemented by NHPC on an ownership basis.
- Dagmara H.E. Project will be a landmark project in the power sector scenario of Bihar as far as green power is concerned.
- Apart from generating clean and green power, the execution will boost the socio-economic and infrastructure development in the area and shall also create employment opportunities.
National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC)
- It is an Indian government hydropower board under the ownership of the Ministry of Power, Government of India.
- It was incorporated with an objective to plan, promote and organise an integrated and efficient development of hydroelectric power in all aspects.
- Later on NHPC expanded its objects to include other sources of energy like Solar, Geothermal, Tidal, Wind etc.
- Presently, NHPC is a Mini Ratna Category-I Enterprise of the Government of India with an authorized share capital of Rs 150,000 million.
- Baira Suil Power station in Salooni Tehsil of Chamba district was the first project undertaken by NHPC
- Currently, NHPC has 24 operational power stations with a total installed capacity of 7071 MW.
