China launches second space station module
- China launched second of three modules to its permanent space station, in one of the final missions needed to complete orbiting outpost by year's end.
Key Highlights
- Wentian (“Quest for the Heavens”) laboratory module was launched by Long March 5B rocket from Wenchang Space Launch Centre on southern island of Hainan.
- Wentian lab module will provide space for experiments, along with other lab module yet to be launched — Mengtian (“Dreaming of the Heavens”).
- Mengtian is expected to be launched in October and, like Wentian, will be docked with Tianhe, forming T-shaped structure.
