All 3 farm laws repealed: PM
- The prime minister wished people on Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and declared that his administration would repeal three farm laws which sparked large farmer demonstrations across the country.
- He said ""We tried to equip farmers with reasonable seeds and amenities like micro-irrigation and 22 crore soil health cards,"" increased agricultural production has been aided by such causes.
- However, we were unable to persuade them of the merits of the new legislation, and as a result, we have chosen to repeal them.
The Three Laws
- The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, *Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020,
- Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020.
Current scenario
- A committee comprising representatives of the central government, state governments, farmers, agricultural scientists and agricultural economists will be formed to ensure decisions on various issues related to agriculture, including making the minimum support price (MSP), are more “effective and transparent”.
