75 Hunar Haat to be organized under Amrit Mahotsav
- Ministry of Minority Affairs has organised 75 Hunar Haat to provide employment and employment opportunities to 7 lakh 50 thousand artisans, craftsmen
- It will be organised across the country as a part of "Amrit Mahotsav" of 75 years of India’s Independence.
- Also, 75 Amrit Mahotsav Park will be constructed on the vacant Waqf lands across the country under Waqf Taraqqiati Scheme and Pradhanmantri Jan Vikas Karykram (PMJVK).
Hunar Haat:
- Hunar Haat is being organised by Union Ministry of Minority Affairs under the USTTAD scheme at different parts of the country.
- It is an exhibition of handicrafts and traditional products made by artisans from the minority communities.
- These Haat aim to provide market exposure and employment opportunities to artisans, craftsmen and traditional culinary experts.
Significance of hunar haat:
- Provide employment and employment opportunities.
- Also provide national as well international markets for thousands of master artisans, craftsmen and culinary experts.
USTTAD (Upgrading the Skills & Training in Traditional Arts/Crafts for Development) scheme:
- The scheme was launched in 2015 by the Ministry of Minority Affairs
- Its aim is to upgrade the capacity building and traditional skills of master craftsmen and artisans.
Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK):
- PMJVK focuses on provisions particularly in the fields of Health, Education and Skill-development.
- The Ministry of Minority Affairs implements the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakaram (PMJVK), in the identified Minority Concentration Areas (MCAs) of the country, with the objective to develop socio-economic assets and basic amenities in the MCAs
- In the year 2008-09, Government conceived the Multi-sectoral Development Programme (MsDP), a Centrally Sponsored Scheme.
- The erstwhile MsDP has been restructured and renamed as Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram for effective implementation since 2018.
- The areas under PMJVK, have been identified on the basis of minority population and socio-economic and basic amenities data of Census 2011.
Area for implementation:
- Areas which have minimum of 25% population of Minority Communities identified at the district/block/town.
Significance:
- PMJVK will continue to support the States/UTs in creating infrastructure to improve the quality of life of people.
- Absolutely critical infrastructure linkages like connecting roads, basic health infrastructure, ICDS centres, skill development are important for inclusion.
- Improving income-generating activities and catalyzing the growth process would also be eligible for inclusion in the plan.
